Privacy Policy

OmaCalendar is a local-first, open-source Linux application. It has no OmaCalendar-operated cloud backend, advertising, analytics, or sale of personal data.

Information the application accesses

When you connect Google Calendar, OmaCalendar requests permission to read your calendar list; view, create, update, and delete calendar events; and, after explicit confirmation, permanently delete an owned non-primary secondary calendar you select. OmaCalendar does not use that permission to create or rename Google calendars, delete a primary calendar, or delete a calendar you do not own. When you connect a CalDAV account, it accesses calendars and events using the credentials and server you provide.

How information is used and stored

Calendar information is used only to display and manage your calendars and synchronize changes you request. Event data is cached in a local SQLite database on your device for offline and responsive use. OAuth refresh tokens and CalDAV credentials are stored in the Linux desktop Secret Service rather than in the calendar database.

Calendar information is exchanged only between your device and the provider you configure, such as Google or your CalDAV server. The project does not operate an intermediary service that receives your calendar data.

Sharing and retention

OmaCalendar does not sell or share your calendar information with advertisers or data brokers. Disconnecting an account removes its stored credentials. The disconnect dialog retains downloaded calendar data by default for offline reference and offers an explicit option to remove that account's cached data instead. Other local data remains until you remove it or clear the application's data. Your calendar provider may retain data according to its own policies.

Your choices

You may disconnect an account in OmaCalendar, choose whether its downloaded data is retained locally, and revoke Google access at any time from your Google Account security settings. You may also delete OmaCalendar's local application data and credentials from your system.

Google API data

OmaCalendar's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
